9 Lives has new meaning to 9 Abandoned Cats!
I got an email over a month ago with a plea for help from Nancy, a Good Samaritan. Owners of a home had moved in southern Medina County and sadly left nine sweet young cats and kittens behind to fend for themselves. Since we focus on taking ours from their final day at the shelter, I referred her to other groups that might be able to help.
The weather started to turn and the pleas for help from this Good Samaritan got more desperate. No one was able to help. No one was coming to rescue them. And these nine adorable, loving cats just loyally sat outside their now abandoned home and waited for what now was becoming a full month. They waited, and waited, and waited…
When room opened up in our foster homes, I contacted Nancy to see if there was any progress. The weather had turned cold and nasty so she had opened her garage to them and one by one, moved these steadfast but now sick, little souls to a safe, warm shelter. We were moved at her level of commitment to help these poor animals and finally, we were able to help!
She brought me the four sickest ones the night before Thanksgiving. They had severe upper respiratory infections, diarrhea, and really goopy eyes. They were so ill, they actually lay on my lap and let me give them their pills, clean their eyes, and put ointment in! I knew they were special.
This one rescue alone will cost us over $1,000!
But thanks to you, we didn’t have to think twice or worry about how many we could afford to save!
These nine sweet kitties will now get a real chance at homes of their own with good owners who will not desert them!
Thanks to you, we will continue to report happy endings. SC
