Of course, none of us would ever consider our adoptables as Trash, but as we well know, some people do. They consider their pets disposable, and the more ‘kind’ ones drop them off at local shelters. The less kind just drop them off…
What I find most amazing is the growing awareness of the homeless pets’ plight and the option to adopt rather than buy. In fact, we find people coming from even other states to adopt some of our very own!
Pictured below is Boomer. A big lug of 85 pounds, Boomer was found as a stray on the streets and was on his final day when saved by SOS. Teri and Charlie fostered him and really loved his soul. He quickly became best buddies with Hubba Bubba, Teri’s other foster. They would play and romp all day long if mom and dad let them!
When Hubba went to his wonderful new forever home, Boomer had such a sadness about him. We all tried to comfort him that day at the Adoption Open House, but he was having none of it. He went home that day searching all the yard and house for his buddy.
As luck would have it, we got an incredible application on him that same day! Now, even more amazing was that these folks were from outside Pittsburgh! Yes, they were more than willing to make a 3 hour – one-way drive to come adopt our Boom Boom!
It was truly love at first site! They just knew he was the one, and Boomer bounced into their vehicle like he had been there all along. They called us the first night to tell us how they were all lounging in bed and watching TV.
So, this throw away, this disposable dog found his people who saw all the good and worthiness in him! Congratulations Boomer on getting such a great home and congratulations to Debbie and Gary for seeing the beauty in Boomer!!!!!
