Simon, Our Heartworm Positive Boy gets a home!
Simon was saved on the same road trip that our 3 legged girl Tippy was. As an adorable middle aged beagle, his days were done at the shelter so he needed a lifeline. When we rescued him, he was not housebroken so he had probably never known a real home. While we knew he needed some work for that, we did not expect the heartbreaking news that he was heartworm positive. Thanks to his SPECIAL foster mom, Sharon Wilson, and to his loving personality, sweet Simon survived a month of heartworm treatment and recovery which entails being crated for the majority of the time. He soaked up the love and became housebroken, made friends with all who met him, and even got bedtime privileges as he now sleeps with his foster mom in her bed! Life has certainly taken a turn for the better for this sweet guy. Just as he waited patiently for his heartworm to get better, he now waits for his own forever home.
9-30-08 SIMON UPDATE! REJOICE - THEY LOVE HIM JUST LIKE WE DO! Sharon, his foster mom of 7 months proudly reported today, "Hi - I had an opportunity to speak with his new mom regarding Simon. They adore him! He has blended into their family like he was meant to be there. He goes for walks frequently, he plays with the other dog, he plays with the girls, he plays with the husband, he sleeps in bed with them (they are teaching him to sleep at the foot of the bed, instead of own their heads), he has tons of toys. He has a beautiful collar and lead, all new all his own. He has a beautiful life! Thank you from the bottom of my heart by letting me be a part of this beautiful story." Sharon |
